Trip to visit National Archives, Kew
This week, 35 of our Year 12 History students visited the National Archives, the UK Government's official archive, in Kew.
Archivist Emma led students through a workshop on the Cold War, through which we learnt about how archives are managed and organised, how to find relevant material and analyse primary sources. This is great practice for A-level history exams, in which students will be required to analyse text and media from the period.
Thr group found the archives really interesting, and although we suffered setbacks in the form of train cancellations, everyone got a lot out of the visit, with a few students keen to learn more about careers in archiving and document preservation.
