Book Launch for LAE Competition Winners
On 12th July, six students from LAE and their teacher attended a prestigious book launch event, hosted by The Academy of Real Assets, at the offices of JLL in Warwick Street, London. The students who attended were proud winners of a recent writing competition where they submitted a piece entitled, “If this building could talk...”
Their work was selected for publication in a beautiful hard-backed book – congratulations to Jevin, Farah, Faith, Ned, Farheen and Hamza (as well as to Marcus and Purbita who could not attend) for becoming published authors!
Winning this competition is a fantastic achievement for LAE students, given the volume and quality of entries. The creativity and independent thinking that was evident in all submissions was praised by the Academy in its presentation speeches – it was exciting to see how students interpreted one prompt in so many different ways. Some students wrote about their personal memories contained within the walls of their homes and their own journeys from childhood to young adulthood. Others wrote about imaginary buildings or those they had seen in photographs.
Special mentions go to Farah, Jevin and Ned. Farah’s piece about a building destroyed in the recent earthquake in Turkey was acknowledged as one of three outstanding entries this year, while Jevin and Ned spoke extremely eloquently about their writing in a short film made about the event. The book launch was both a wonderful celebration of all our students’ creativity and an invitation for them to think seriously about pursuing careers in real estate. Congratulations once again to our winners!
