LAE alumnus wins prestigious US scholarship
Babson College, the number one university for entrepreneurship in the USA, has announced that Trae James, a 2018 alumnus of LAE, has been offered the 2019 Babson Global Scholarship for Europe.
The scholarship, one of only a handful of global scholarships funded by Babson College annually, will cover four years of tuition as well as financial support for accomodation, books and travel expenses. Trae will be the third LAE student in two years to attend a prestigious university in the USA, with previous leavers enrolling at Wharton School of Business and Pennsylvania State in 2018.
LAE’s Head Master, Scott Baker said “I am thrilled for Trae and would like to commend him on this exceptional achievement and life changing opportunity. I can’t imagine a more worthy recipient. Trae is a remarkable young man and an inspirational role model.”
As well as receiving support with his application from staff at LAE, Trae worked closely with the Sutton Trust US Programme run in partnership with the UK-US Fulbright Commission. The programme, which brings together some of the brightest and most talented UK state school pupils, was established to enable and encourage low and middle income UK students to consider studying at America’s top universities.
Trae’s success frames another record year for LAE, which saw it achieve its best ever A-Level results (90% A*-B, 61% A*-A) and a record 26 offers (more than one in ten) for students to study at either Oxford or Cambridge, beating the record haul of 22 offers in 2018.
