This week, one of our Year 13 English Literature classes was hosted by Professor Peter Howarth at Queen Mary, University of London, who generously allowed us to attend his undergraduate lecture on ‘Modernism and War’ in support of LAE students’ A-level study of modernist poetry. The lecture was fascinating, and the LAE English students did us proud with their thoughtful contributions in a seminar that followed, making links between the lecture content, visual art stimuli and the modernist poetry they have been studying as part of their A-level course.

This trip followed our other Year 13 group’s attendance to a ‘Modernism and the City’ lecture and seminar in November.
