National recognition by Minister for Skills

The London Academy of Excellence is proud to share a message of national recognition from The Rt Hon Baroness Jacqui Smith, Minister for Skills, who has formally commended the outstanding achievements of our students. In her letter, she celebrates the success of 62 LAE students who received offers from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge this year, describing this as “an extraordinary accomplishment” and “a powerful reminder of what young people can achieve when given the opportunity.”

Baroness Smith highlights the significance of so many students from disadvantaged backgrounds and first‑generation university applicants reaching this milestone. She notes that their success exemplifies the Secretary of State’s Opportunity Mission, which aims to break the link between background and educational outcomes.

She also pays tribute to the dedication of LAE’s staff, recognising “the vital role of the dedicated college staff who support them” and offering her appreciation to the entire school community.

This recognition reflects the strength of LAE’s long‑established Oxbridge programme, which provides tailored academic support, specialist preparation, and mentoring to help students from all backgrounds compete for places at the UK’s most selective universities. The programme continues to be a cornerstone of LAE’s mission to expand opportunity and raise aspirations for all its students.

We are grateful for Baroness Smith’s warm congratulations and proud of our students’ exceptional achievements. Her message is a powerful endorsement of the hard work, ambition, and community spirit that define LAE.
