Living with host families was a highlight for many students, who said that their hosts were welcoming and engaging, and offered an authentic glimpse into Spanish life. One student said “not only was it amazing for my Spanish, but for growth on a personal level”.

Students also participated in a variety of work placements, offering hands-on experience in different fields, as well as e opportunities to apply Spanish in professional settings. Ishrak, who worked at the charity shop Madre Coraje, said, “My confidence and speaking skills improved as I used Spanish daily. The best part was hanging out and practising my Spanish with locals.”

Cultural excursions added an extra layer of excitement to the trip. Visits to the breathtaking Alhambra, a mesmerising flamenco show, and explorations of the local culture were among the highlights.

Beyond improving their language proficiency, students returned home with strengthened independence, time management, and problem-solving skills. Navigating a new city, adapting to a different way of life, and trying out new jobs all contributed to their personal growth. As one student put it, "It’s very good for trying things out of your comfort zone.”20250214 123604146 iOS
