Careers in a Law Firm with Latham & Watkins
This week, we welcomed back Latham & Watkins LLP, a global law firm and corporate partner of LAE, to deliver an engaging talk about the various career paths that might lead to working in the legal sector.
A part of our Futures series of lectures, broadening the horizons of Year 12 students as they consider their next steps after LAE, visitors from Latham & Watkins talked about their roles in various departments and how they interact to make the business of a law firm happen every day.
Students heard from Latham employees working in areas as varied as AI and business development, as well as from a trainee lawyer. This glimpse into everyday life at Latham & Watkins offered food for thought for students to think about the skills they are already honing through their studies, hobbies and volunteering, and how those same skills can be harnessed in the future as they progress through higher education and their careers.
As well as those working in the legal profession, across the autumn term, Year 12 will hear directly from professionals in a range of industries including healthcare, financial services, the civil service and journalism.
Students also recently took part in a session focusing on building their networking and job-searching skills, such as how to craft a good CV and navigate LinkedIn. All of these skills and opportunities to interact with people working in a range of sectors support students to approach the world of work with confidence.
