London Academy of Excellence (LAE) is embarking upon an exciting period of growth and transition into its new school premises in September 2026. In preparation for this, LAE is seeking to recruit an influential mathematician.
The LAE is one of the most successful 'maths schools' in the country and unrivalled in its commitment to recruiting maths scholars from disadvantaged backgrounds. LAE mathematicians from all backgrounds progress in substantial numbers to some of the most competitive universities and medical schools in the UK and around the world.
The successful candidate ideally will be an outstanding and experienced Teacher of A Level Maths and Further Maths. Higher degree qualifications in Maths or a related discipline are highly desirable, as is familiarity with the Edexcel A Level Mathematics specification; though exceptional candidates with other qualifications and experiences are encouraged to apply. All candidates will be expected to evidence a passion for mathematics and for extending the opportunities of a first-rate mathematical education to students, irrespective of background or personal circumstances. The successful candidate will be capable of delivering inspirational and informative lessons and adapting and reassessing lesson plans to meet specific student needs.
The LAE is a sixth form school for scholars of all backgrounds, cultures and experiences. LAE consistently delivers outstanding A level results for all students but has achieved particular success helping students from less-advantaged backgrounds win places at the best universities in the UK and around the world. The LAE is ranked among the top A level providers in the country by both The Times and The Telegraph and is the first state school in the world admitted to the World Leading Schools Association.
The LAE’s success is founded on its highly competent, committed and caring staff dedicated to the Academy mission of social mobility. Our colleagues’ wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Our Staff Wellbeing Charter prioritises high quality professional development but also the cultivation of a sustainable work-life balance, tailored wherever possible to individual circumstances.
The LAE is located in the heart of Stratford, opposite one of the largest and most accessible public transport hubs in London.
If you believe that you align to the school’s core values and mission, please submit an application to become part of the LAE community. To apply, please complete an application by Monday 24th March 2025 at 9.00am.
