The role

LAE are looking to appoint someone with very good organisational skills, a warm personality, a calm and good humoured outlook, and relentless optimism. This is a great opportunity for a graduate wanting to use their academic experience to develop the independence and resilience of our dedicated and inquisitive sixth formers to help them achieve the best outcomes possible.

The Learning and Language Coordinator will play a vital role in identifying and supporting sixth formers who might benefit from additional learning support, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) students. The LLC will work one-to-one, in small groups, and with classes of sixth formers to support their developing of independent learning and revision skills. They will also work closely with the academic team to provide oversight and administration of examination access arrangements.

With the support of the academic team, the LLC will support sixth formers to overcome barriers to learning by concentrating on students’ strengths and learning preferences so that they can experience academic success that is in line with the rest of the cohort and improve their self-esteem and confidence.

 

The School

In 2017 LAE secured outstanding A level results. 88% of A level grades were A*, A or B and 60% of all grades were A* or A. More than 150 students progressed to Russell Group universities with fifteen securing places at Oxbridge and 21 taking up offers to study medicine, dentistry and veterinary science.

The school is heavily oversubscribed with more than 3000 applications for 250 places each year and was graded ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in November 2017.
